Chaney High School Athletics Hall of Fame

The Chaney High School Athletic Hall of Fame honors the standout athletes, coaches and teams from Youngstown, Ohio’s Chaney High School. Over the decades, Chaney sent players to the NFL and produced 1942 Heisman Trophy winner Frank Sinkwich and Major League Baseball’s George Shuba, best known as the first player to shake Jackie Robinson’s hand after Robinson’s first big league home run broke baseball’s color barrier. Though Chaney High School no longer exists following the 2026 consolidation of Youngstown’s city schools, its athletic legacy is preserved here.
